After earning a B.S. with honors in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Yen worked at Baylor College of Medicine's Department of Orthopedics writing software programs. Dr. Yen earned his medical degree from UTMB at Galveston. He pursued his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas

Dr. Yen has been with the Northwest Cancer Center since 2001, and is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society and American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is an expert in myelodysplastic syndrome. Other major interests are the treatment of hereditary coagulopathy, non-malignant blood disorders, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, gastro-intestinal and lung cancer.

Dr. Yen is known for always "being there" for his patients and their families. He and his wife, Maureen, have four children, and his family is the center of his universe.
