Dr. Liu joined the staff of the Northwest Cancer Center in 1993, and since that time she has taken an active role on key committees of local hospitals, including the Cancer Advisory Committee for Houston Northwest Hospital. Dr. Liu is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, American Society of Oncology and Texas Medical Associates. She he has a strong belief in excellence in care and quality assurance, and has chaired quality improvement committees of several northwest area hospitals.

Dr. Liu was the Principal Investigator for an AIDS research project on patients with Kaposi's sarcoma, and has been a popular lecturer on cancer topics at Houston hospitals. She has become an expert on cancer in the elderly.

She believes in forming strong partnerships with her patients and their family members, and urges them to share in the many decisions necessary for effective care and treatment. During her leisure time, she pursues four passions: Country music, her rose gardens, fiddling, and Oklahoma college football.  Dr. Liu has one child.
